The Only 3 Things Your Pet REALLY Needs

Since the young age of 6 weeks old, our Maltese, Kipsy Behr, has been a part of the Holliday family. I say “little” because he was so tiny when we brought him home. One time, he actually fell into his bowl of food. Ha! We always laugh when we think about that memory. He was so small and the cutest dog ever. We still think he’s the cutest!

Time has passed and Kipsy is now 9 years old. He’s transitioned well and lovingly to 2 children that we’ve added to our family. Having Kipsy, as a pet, has been so enjoyable for our entire family. Pets really don’t need much to give them a great life. If you’re giving your pet these 3 things, then you’re doing everything right. It’s all they really need.

1. Regular Exercise.

Every time we pull out his leash, Kipsy gets so excited! He knows that he’s going for a walk. Does your dog do the same thing? Exercise never gets old for dogs. The truth is all pets need regular exercise to support good mobility. As they get older, it’s even more important that pets stay active. A quick run around the house or to the pet store makes Kipsy happy and keeps him active too.

2. A good diet.

Thankfully, Kipsy has been a really healthy dog. The right diet is a huge part of why he’s been in good health. When considering your dog’s diet, it’s important to take into consideration their personal needs. As he has gotten older, it’s been a concern of ours to alway make sure he’s getting the proper nutrition. I’m not a diet expert but the experts who developed Purina® Pro Plan® are.

That’s why I was excited to discover the Purina® Pro Plan® line of dog food. By using the Purina University website, I was able to get a formula plan for his specific needs. Backed by a team of over 400 Purina scientists, including nutritionists, behaviorists and veterinarians, each of the platforms offer outstanding nutrition. No ingredient is unnecessary—everything is precisely and purposefully selected. I’m confident that the experts have thought of everything for my pet.

No matter what your pet’s needs are, Purina Pro Plan has you covered. They have purpose-driven recipes, available in grain-free or no corn, wheat or soy options to satisfy picky eaters, supporting cognitive health and more. Also, Purina Pro Plan provides nutrition that performs in a variety of wet and dry products formulated for taste preferences, age, dietary considerations or activity/lifestyle in four platforms for dogs and four platforms for cats. Kipsy’s plan included Purina® Pro Plan® Bright Mind Adult 7+ Small Breed Formula and some additional entrée options. The soft food was recommended to add variety to his diet.

Since Kipsy’s coat is white, it’s always been a concern of us ours to keep it healthy. The Purina Pro Plan has thought of that too! The adult formula includes Vitamin A and Linoleic Acid, an Omega-6 Fatty Acid, for Healthy Skin and Coat.

Kipsy and I headed to PetSmart to purchase his new recommended Purina Pro Plan food. Purina Pro Plan has their own section of food at Petsmart and it was really easy to find. We always like to take a look at the latest merchandise of toys and treats too. Of course, Kipsy likes to smell everything we pass. It’s his way of exploring and I can’t blame him for that.

No matter what your pet’s needs are it’s not easy to transition a pet to new food. The myPlan Tool gave me a personalized action plan to help Kipsy transition. It took a few days to move him strictly to his new Purina® Pro Plan® Bright Mind Adult dog foodSo far, it’s going very well though. I love Kipsy and am happy knowing that we are meeting all of his dietary needs.

3. Lots of love and recognition.

It’s amazing seeing how sensitive dogs can be. They need constant love and recognition to make them feel loved. Kipsy is so small we get to pick him up and love on him. He’s so spoiled he doesn’t care. Look how he’s hanging on my shoulder. Exploring the Purina Pro Plan Social Hub is another way to discover great ways to spoil and engage with your pet, as well as learn more about the ProPlan brand. There are a variety of amazing tutorials too.

We have a Maltese Mix and keeping her coat bright is a definite focus- and relation to her nutrition. It’s great to see owners take note of how diet changes over the course of a dog’s life! #client

I agree that diet has a lot to do with a dog’s coat. Some many times people have asked “How do you keep your dog’s coat so white?” Some of that is genes but a lot has to with nutrition. Thanks for your comment Jenna!
