Yummy, yummy, mango and pineapple cocktail! I love it when I find food at the grocery store and I am inspired to create a recipe. I have never had a mango pineapple cocktail before, until the mangoes and pineapple went on sale at my local grocery store. That is how this cocktail came about…a sale. Do you ever do that? Create a food or drink recipe because of what’s on sale. It’s actually a great way to shop. Sometimes I like being impulsive too.
To make this cocktail, I used the basics of the margarita recipe that my sister (she works at a popular Texas Mexican restaurant) recommended. I thought the proportions she gave me are excellent and I’ll definitely be using this recipe over and over. The twist is I used vodka instead of tequila. Of course, I have to add salt or sugar to my cup rim. For this mango pineapple twist, I used Twang A Rita lime salt.
If you want a margarita, simply switch out the vodka for a tequila and there you have it. Tequila isn’t my favorite alcohol but occasionally I don’t mind having some in a drink. Personally, I find vodka drinks agree with me better. I’ve had several friends express their love for a good tequila. What’s your preference?
Mango Pineapple Twist
This fruity mango and pineapple twist is DE-LICIOUS! The pineapple is perfect to smooth out the bitter mango to make an awesome cocktail. Add salt or sugar to the rim of your cup for extra flavor.
- Yield: 1 1x
- Category: Cocktail
Ingredients
- 2 cups of ice
- 1/2 cup of frozen mangoes
- 1/2 cup of pineapple chunks
- 2 ounces of vodka
- 2 ounces of simple syrup
- 1 ounce triple sec or orange liqueur
- salt or sugar for cup rim
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to blender. Blend until smooth.
- Pour into 8 ounce glass with sugar or salt on the rim.
Let me be clear. Even if you don’t like mangoes, there is a high chance you’ll enjoy this cocktail. The pineapple adds the perfect amount of tart to sweeten the drink. It’s a great mashup of creaminess that I love. In preparation, I used fresh pineapple and mangoes, cut them up, and froze overnight. You could buy the fruit frozen too.
