As much as I love it, there hasn’t been much time left for decorating around my home lately. Obligations, work, and sickness have gotten the best of my family and I over the past couple of months. But that’s just life. You roll with the punches and keep moving forward. Still in all, I really do love finding items (new or old), and placing them just where I think they should be. In fact, I normally let things stay put until I find the perfect place for them. I also try not to buy items if I don’t really love them. Why bring items into your home that you only “kind of” like?
Live with what you love.
What’s exciting about today is I got a chance to finish my fall mantel, which I started weeks ago. Yes, my fall mantel 2016 is complete! It will probably stay up throught the winter. The only item that I purchased was decorative corn. I made the prints myself and printed them at home. Everything else I had on hand. There are 2 variations of the mantel – one with fresh flowers for a pop of color. There is also a variation of the mantel with a bright orange spool of fabric for extra color. I couldn’t decide which I liked better so I’m sharing both with you today.
This was my first time purchasing decorative/ Indian corn for a project. The colors are so vibrant and really give the statement “fall”.
I decided to add in some simple custom printables to fill the open frames with something attractive. It’s like the frames were begging for me to put something in them.
Vintage scales have always been a love of mine. I tied up a few ears of the Indian corn with lace and placed them on the scale. I’m happy that I’ve kept that scale as long as I have. I’m never selling it.
This green vintage box was a find that I actually tried to sell about a year ago here. The color was the thing that attracted me to at first. That is exactly why it’s out on the mantel. I filled it with pinecones and corn to make it fit right in.
Did you enjoy seeing my fall mantel? What do you think about it?
